Happy Memorial Day! [May. 30th, 2006|06:01 am]

[mood |chipperchipper]

Hello Everyone,

I still read my Live Journal posts and thank you for the nudges. I have been trying to find time to post and over the weekend decided to just wake up early today so I could write a post. I am still shocked that I receive at least 50 private emails a day to my Live Journal email address and on days where a post is made on the SWG forums about me my emails jump to over 100 a day.

It has been over a while since I have written to you and many things have been going on in my life. First I will start off with I am working 3 jobs and as you can guess that keeps me very busy. As many of you know already my primary job is working for Turbine and I really love that I am still in touch with many of the former SWG players that are playing DDO. My other two jobs are not gaming related but they allow me to be in contact with different types of communities then I am used to dealing with. The similarities across the different communities are very interesting. I didn't think that I would enjoy working for non-gaming companies but I was wrong. It is nice to be able to help people in different ways and see how happy they get when things work out.

I'm still playing online games when I can with DDO being my main game. But my time is limited and I miss the people I was playing with on a daily basis. In the next few weeks I should be able to devote more time to DDO and I am anxiously awaiting the LOTRO beta.

My son has completed his training for the Army and is now home. It is great to see the changes that have taken place in him while he was away. I am very proud of what he has accomplished. He is now thinking over if he will go from being a reservist to Enlisted. I am hoping that he chooses Enlisted even though the thought of him going to war scares the life out of me. I believe what they can teach him will help him so much in his life long goals.

My daughter and I have adopted a few servicemen that are over in Iraq and we send them care packages and correspondence. We decided to do this after I was reading an email from a serviceman that asked if I minded writing to him while over there (he is a former SWG player). I gave it some thought and one night while I was feeling a bit down I turned to my live journal to catch up on posts. At that point I decided if what people write to me makes me feel better then maybe what I write to a serviceman will give him/her a few minutes to forget where they are. Reading the letters really makes you realize how much you have and is an eye opening experience to what these men and women have to deal with every day they are over there. We are very proud of them and hope they return home to their family’s safe very soon. I only hope our letters do for them what your posts have done for me.

School is now officially out in Texas and as every mother does, I have marked the calendar with the new start of school date and I am crossing off the days. I still can't get used to how early Texas schools get out for the summer. In New Jersey they don't get out until the middle of June. My daughter is thrilled school is out however I am sure in a couple of weeks I will soon be hearing "I'm bored" or "I miss school" coming from her mouth. :P

Well I need to start my work day. I hope you understand why I haven't written in a while. I will write when I can and please don't ever think that it means I forgot about you, it just means my crazy, busy life has taken hold of me and a nudge may be needed :)

I hope you enjoy your summer and I look forward to reading your comments!

Huggs,

Tiggs

Morning Tiggs! I'm glad to hear things have been going well for you lately. =) I'd been wondering where you'd gotten to. I'm going to drop you an email in the next few days 'cuz I need your "expert opinion" on something. ;-)

Off to class for me.

Glad things are going well! My kids' last day was the 24th ... there's no 'bored' yet (LOL if they say that then I tell them about all the nice jobs I have for them to do) ... but I'm sure there will be.

Three jobs? /hugs That's rough. Hope things look up soon.

Hihi!

It's awesome to hear things worked out for you! I was very pleased to read about you and your daughter adopting some servicemen. I have done the same through Soldiers' Angels and am starting a local campaign here in Wilmington, NC called Operation Peace Time - we'll send donated DVDs, CDs, books and video games to the troops in Iraq. ::hugs::
May your days be blessed!

Re: Hihi!

That is a wonderful idea. I would love to get that started here in Austin as well. Feel free to email me with any ideas you have come up with for that.

*Waves at Tiggs* Glad you're keeping a hand in the gaming world!

Oh, and next year school probably won't end as early, because the State Legislature has told the schools they can't start as early as they have been the past several years (some were starting in the first week of August).

Glad to know that you are getting along ok!

Working's tough but at the end of the day we do what we can to make our lives & our dependents lives better!

Not too fussed about LOTRO, i don't think that it will translate well into a game personally! But hey, im waiting til 2007 for Warhammer Online (the original Orks!) ^_^

I think Warhammer may finally drag me away from SWG..

Writing to servicemen sounds like something I'd like to do - could you either respond to this comment or post for everyone just how one goes about adopting a serviceman?????

http://www.soldiersangels. To adopt a soldier you must commit to sending a card or letter a week and AT LEAST 1 or 2 care packages a month, This is important to help bring home a healthy hero, (care packages do not have to be expensive and you can put together your own), duration of adoption is usually 6 to 8 mo.

It's great to hear that you're doing well...

and as a graduate of Fort Knox's basic training, seeing the pride in my mom's eyes when i got to see her for the first time is indescribable.

Now that i'm out and in the non-military world, the lessons that i learned there have really applied to my life and have made me a better person.

I know that more than a few people are anxiously awaiting LOTRO's beta as well, it seems like a very well put together game.

Take care Tiggs, what's it like to have your very own fans? :)

The graduation ceremony that Fort Benning put on was awesome. I didn't think I could be more proud of my son then at that moment of time. I was wrong... When he stepped off the plane from completing the rest of his training after bootcamp I think that made me even prouder of him. He went in a boy and walked off the plane that day as a man, my son :)

Wow! You have three jobs and still have time to help others. I can't help but think back to a hugely busy time in SWG when you gave your free time to help victims of Hurricane Katrina. Don't ever change.

Glad to see you're doing well, and maybe I'll bump into you around town :)

Hey you! A year in September will be when I took in 15 survivors of hurricane Katrina. It was a learning experience but I don't think I will ever do that again. =)

This is a coupon weekend so if your near Albertons you will see me! :)

Tiggs,

Glad to hear you are doing well!

The guild I was leader of on Naritus quiet a few members leave SWG to go over to IRAQ to do their TOD. I am happy to say that most of them have returned unharmed or in the best possible condition possible. We had put up a small set of statues to these members so they all realize that we do appreciate what they are doing for us while they are over seas.

Have you tried EveOnline? Since leaving SWG, I have been playing EveOnline alot. It's a fun game with a community much like that of Starwars Galaxies. Lots of player made content, heck, they have a department of volunteers just for such a thing. They have a great backing by their player base. They do have a small trial that you can check out, if you wish.

Glad to hear things are going well...albeit very busy! If any servicemen/women need more peeps to write to them, let me know. My husband was active and reserve Army. He would have only 3 more years to finish before he retires...but his employer has restrictions on reserve duty atm.
